Knights Work with Bishops to Defend Marriage
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Knights are joining forces
in a campaign to encourage U.S. Catholics to write their senators urging a
vote in favor of the Marriage Protection Amendment. The Order is printing 10
million
post cards urging senators to support the amendment. They will vote on
it in June.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson said federal appeals court Judge Samuel Alito is "a truly excellent choice" for the U. S. Supreme Court.
President Bush nominated Alito Oct. 31 to replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Knights Pledge at Least $2.5 Million for Hurricane Victims
The Knights of Columbus Supreme Council has announced the largest disaster relief effort in its history. The Order has
pledged a minimum of $2.5 million in financial assistance and is challenging local Knights to contribute to the Knights of
Columbus Katrina Relief Fund in an amount equal to or greater than the Order's pledge.

Aug. 13 (CWNews.com) - American cable-television subscribers will have their first opportunity to watch an award-wining portrayal
of Pope John Paul II on Monday, August 15, when the Hallmark Channel airs the US premiere of "A Man Who Became Pope."
The biographical portrait, which covers the life of Karol Wojtyla from his early childhood through his election to the papacy, will
be shown at 7 in the evening, and repeated on Thursday, August 18, at 8 central
time.

Knights of Columbus sets new record of $135 million for charity in 2004
Volunteer service by Knights also sets new record of 63 million hours.
The results of the Order’s Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity for the year ended December 31, 2004
show that total contributions to charity at all levels climbed to $135,753,039, exceeding the previous year’s total by
more than $5 million.
